John 1:1-5, 14 (KIV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 1:14 (KJV) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 8:31-32 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The way to have Life is to have His Word in You. (write on the lower portion of your cross "WORD")
THE WORD IS YOUR FOOD: You can Not Grow Closer to Christ unless you regularly partake of "The Word".
HOW DO I RECEIVE THE WORD?
Listening to Preaching of the Word, Reading the Word, Studying the Word, Memorizing, Meditating on it, and most of All Applying it in your Life.
• Making Christ Lord means that you have the Want To... (study, meditate, Apply)
The Bible is Divided into Two Main Sections:
(Old Testament and New Testament) 66 Books (40 different writers, over 1500 years.)
• Genesis: Creation story, Early Patriarchs, and the Covenant with Abraham
• Exodus: Israelites deliverance from Egypt and the receiving of the Ten Commandments.
• Leviticus: Laws regarding Ritual Practices and Sacrifices
• Numbers: Journey through the wilderness and Census taking.
• Deuteronomy: Moses Final speeches and reiteration of the Law.
• Joshua: Conquest to Canaan (Promise Land)
• Judges: Period of Israelite Leadership By Judges
• Ruth: Story of a Moabite woman who became the Linage of Christ.
• 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel: Reign of King Saul, David, and Solomon
• 1,2, Kings: Divided Kingdom of Israel and Judah
• 1, 2 Chronicles: Genealogical records and retelling of Israelite History
• Ezra, Nehemiah: Rebuilding of Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile
• Esther: Story of Esther, a Jewish woman who saves her People in Persia.
• Psalms: Collection of Prayers, Hymns and Poems
• Proverbs: Wisdom Literature and Practical advice
• Ecclesiastes: Reflections on the Meaning of Life
• Song Of Solomon: Love Poetry
• Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations (Major Prophets) with extensive Prophecies about Israel's Future.
• Ezekiel, Daniel (Major Prophets) with Visions and Prophecies about End Times.
• Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi
• All with shorter Prophetic Messages.
Conclusion: 39 books which comes from ancient Israelite context in the first and second millennia written almost entirely in Hebrew. Gods' relationship with Humanity in particular the people of Israel. (God's chosen people)
